I love unexpected findings that become paintings. In this case I was on a hike up Camel's Hump with my lovely wife and for about the 15th time had to beg her to stop and take a break. What caught me by surprise was this little scene just behind us. How these trees find a way to grow on top of big rocks is beyond me, but the jumble of hard and soft textures along with the arrangement of lines and shapes created by the branches, trees and moss just spoke to me. Of course I didn't have my "good" camera as I was not looking for things I might paint, but a phone photo was good enough to allow me to complete this 8" x 6" gem.
