"Time Atlases explores aspects of time through the construction of artifacts, cast-offs, and elements of past and present into a newly imagined layering of connections. The subjects vary from reflections of recent time periods to natural time structures, as well as a formal reimagining of art periods and influences.
Harvested raw materials developed for a utilitarian purpose are repurposed into formal structures. These raw materials are sourced from the detritus of past decades and recent time. Part archeological digs and part decades of collecting the ordinary have been reassembled into pure abstraction. At second look, the components reveal familiarity." ~ Jeffrey Stern

Jeffrey Stern is a lens-based artist with a career in sound editing for motion pictures, with one Emmy win and numerous other awards and achievements.
This exhibit is a collaborative effort between the Thomas Stevens Gallery 
and The NEIL Gallery.

About the artist

Jeffrey Stern

Jeffrey Stern is a lens-based artist with a career in sound editing for motion pictures. His professional credits encompass work on over one-hundred feature films, documentary and television productions. He has been nominated six-times for an Emmy Award with one Emmy win and various other awards and achievements.
Jeffrey Stern received a BFA in Photography / Film from Philadelphia College of Art where he studied under Ray K. Metzger and an MFA from the University of Miami in Digital Photography studying with Tomás López. Jeffrey was an Associate Professor of Practice in UM’s Cinematic Arts Department. He previously served as a filmmaker in residence at the North Carolina School of the Arts and as Adjunct Professor at New School University in New York.
He lives and works in Hillsborough, NC
