"UJIMA" features a Black woman with an Afro crafted from interconnected cogs, symbolizing community unity. Against a lush green backdrop, her body, depicted in black and white, represents the soul and ancestral connection.

The painting explores "Ujima," a communal movement in the Black diaspora, emphasizing knowledge and positivity abundance. Benny Andrews' notion that "we're all cogs in a wheel working to perpetuate our culture forward" resonates here.

"UJIMA" signifies progress toward a Black utopia driven by Black and Brown creativity over time. The artist, a Black woman from the diaspora, highlights the importance of collective responsibility and collaboration among Black and Brown individuals to enrich their culture, fostering unity and community strength for a brighter future.
