Torn apart and reassembled, the text forms a fractured field that both reveals and obscures, resisting the certainty often expected of documentary evidence. My own body appears alongside these fragments—not as a representation of Riley’s experience, but as a site of witnessing, acknowledging that testimony can exceed the individual from whom it originates. Another person’s account of profound violence can reverberate through our own bodies and memories, reminding us that testimony continues to live beyond the voice that first speaks it. Through the act of cutting, layering, and reconstructing the text, the work reflects on the difficulty of holding traumatic narratives and the ways experiences of violence often exceed language itself.
