Limited Edition
Larches
1 public edition
A limited edition of two colour (two block) linocut prints, printed on vintage topographical map of Lake Louise National Park (circa 1980). Each map background is unique, so each print is unique.
This map was used by me on hikes in this beautiful area. Larch Valley is specifically known for the beauty of the Alpine Larches that turn gold in the fall. I was inspired to make these prints to memorialize the beauty and fragility of this high alpine region. Climate change is putting all these places at risk. I also love everything about maps, and topographical maps are especially beautiful to me.
This paper has already been printed once, (as well as being folded and stuffed into a backpack!), so is not an ideal printmaking surface. However, I find the results a satisfying combination despite the imperfections. And it gives the map itself a second life.
Paper sizes are irregular, but approximately 9 x 8" The printed image is 6 x 4" Mats are 10 x 8" in outside dimensions. These works are shipped mounted in a mat. (Unless you request otherwise.)
These works fit into a standard commercial 8x10 frames that are widely available.
