A multi-layered piece that has several elements. The sky, wild with motion of wind and clouds, and yet oddly broken. A river, or is it a scar, with surgical sutures pulling it together. The landscape appears damaged, but there has been an effort made at repair. The figures have an ambiguous relationship to the landscape - are they engaged with the damage or ignoring it? The painting investigates the tension between beauty in the landscape and anguish for the damage we have done to the environment.
