What do you want to say yes to? This is my answer to that question, a reminder to say yes to all the good things in life, because we have many good things, even when we have worries.
This is one of two pieces I made using found cabinet doors that I bolted to a cradled panel, and then painted on.
The door does open, but will also stay shut with a small magnet.
When closed, it looks a lot like a graffitied wall. When open, you see a drawing I made of a sunflower plant in the early spring -- long before the flower opens. The sunflower plant was made as a monoprint using a gelli plate. (A bunch of artist talk that you don't need to understand to enjoy this painting!!)
The letters are all printed using linocut blocks on tissue paper that I print. The colours are joyful and vibrant without being harsh.
I love how this turned out, and I hope it finds a good home with someone else who wants a regular reminder to say yes to all the good things life has to offer. Plus it is an unusual piece, because it truly is interactive, and is almost like two paintings in one.
