Original mixed media abstract oil painting by Stevenjohn McHugh titled "Clear Seeing Place". Measures 15" x 19.5" x 1.5. Framed size is 15.75" x 20.25 x 2.5". Mixed media with oil stick, marker, oil, graphite, charcoal and cold wax on Arches oil paper glued on wood panel with PH balance glue. Side of wood cradle (solid wood) is varished natural. Signed on front and back. Framed is a vanished gallery frame solid wood. "Clear Seeing Place" is an abstract landscape painting dominated by vertical brushstrokes that create a sense of tall plants or trees. The color palette comprises warm oranges and yellows, contrasting with various shades of blue and touches of green, suggesting a vibrant, perhaps autumnal setting. The gestural strokes and splashes of color convey movement and energy, as if capturing the essence of a thriving natural space with light filtering through. The piece is framed with a simple gallery floating light wood frame, lending it a finished look while the intense colors draw the viewer's eye to the dynamic composition within. #madelineisland #stevemchughart.com #bayfieldwi #apostleislands #wisconsinartist #mixedmedia #modernart #contemporaryart #painting #contemporarypainter #paintstudio #artgallery #fineart #abstractart #artcollector #originalart #contemporaryartwork #studio #artgallery #artcollector #artadvisor #artcurator #abstraction #abstractart #abstractpainting #artcollector #artistoninstagram #stevenjohnmchugh #Aninhinabewakilands #artistinthewoods #lakegitchegumee #madelineislandartist #madelineislandpainter

As a mixed media non-representational abstract painter, I navigate my environment and daily interactions through an interplay of intuitive marks and gestures. My process involves layering, constructing, deconstructing, and reconstructing, resulting in a chaotic yet ultimately harmonious fusion of colors and textures. I defy traditional rules and embrace the beauty of clashing colors and evolving compositions.

Inspired by nature and my remote Island surroundings on Lake Superior, I find solace in the ever-changing light and landscapes that challenge me to constantly push the boundaries of my art. Trees and water are consistent elements that flow through my work, guiding me towards new discoveries and interpretations with every stroke.

I draw from a diverse array of mediums such as charcoal, graphite, gunpowder, sand, and more to infuse my artwork with a sense of depth and complexity that invites viewers to unravel its many layers. Each piece is a testament to my desire to bring beauty to the world and create something new and unique that resonates with others.

In my paintings, chaos gives way to order and clarity, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a journey of discovery and interpretation. By merging photography with traditional painting techniques on paper, canvas, and wood panels, I strive to create a truly unique and captivating visual experience. My art is a reflection of the constant evolution of my surroundings, my emotions, and my creative process, inviting others to join me in exploring the endless possibilities of abstract expression.
