Wet felted merino, mohair, cashmere, curly locks, Wensleydale locks, wool nepps, silk tops, silk carrier rods, sari ribbon, habotai, velvet and chiffon silk, banana yarn, Harris Tweed, spun and bourette silk thread, and waste yarn on a backing of silk chiffon and cotton scrim

‘Promise’ was made as a commission, with a brief to create a dawn landscape local to where they live. The customers loved the aging stone walls in the fields all around, and they both were keen to have a fairly open landscape with trees. After a few trips with my camera and sketchbook, I decided on the view down towards South Wingfield from the top of the hill above Fritchley windmill. I’ve played with the framing of tree and wall to give the glow of the dawn light over the field and into the distance extra pop.
