Diana McClun and Laura Nownes made this quilt for their first book, "Quilts! Quilts! Quilts" which was published in 1988. Sadly the quilt did not make it into the book. Their publisher, Michael Kile was very involved in the collaboration of the book. When he was hospitalized in 1991, Diana and Laura gifted the quilt to Michael. Sadly, Michael passed away that same year. Well wishes and messages of hope were scribed on to the quilt by Michaels loved ones. Diana McClun and Laura Nownes are well-known California quilt makers and have had an enormous impact on quilt making.
