This evocative 1976 figurative work portrays a highly romanticized and theatrical scene inspired by the classical poetry of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The composition centers on an intimate interaction between two figures, set against a stylized, atmospheric background of intertwining tree branches and a warm, golden-hued sky.

The focal point of the piece is a young woman in a graceful, reclining posture. She is adorned in a flowing, diaphanous golden-yellow gown that features intricate, shimmering embellishments, a beaded waistband, and highly detailed traditional jewelry, including a prominent headpiece and earrings. Her expression is serene and contemplative as she delicately balances a small pink wine cup in her raised, elegantly posed hand.

Positioned behind her is an older, distinguished male figure with a full white beard, likely representing the poet Omar Khayyam. He is dressed in a heavy, dark tunic and a traditional dark cap. He leans in toward the woman, his gaze fixed softly upon her, capturing a moment of quiet, poetic connection

The artist utilizes a rich, earthy color palette dominated by golds, ochres, deep greens, and contrasting dark shadows. The expressive application of the medium highlights the delicate folds of the textiles and infuses the scene with an ethereal, vintage quality.
