The series 'ithaca' is inspired by the aesthetic of the mid-century modern style and on a more personal level by a vacation stay in a cozy historic home in the town of Ithaca in upstate NY this summer. For the first time, I am inviting black shapes and thus more contrast into my large scale paintings.
In this very reduced painting four rounded shapes form a balancing stack. The colors are kept in subtle earth tones. The piece evokes a sophisticated and modern yet warm vibe.
