My Process:

I started this series with loose charcoal drawings of jellyfish, focusing on their weightless, drifting motion. The drawings were placed face-down on a Gelli plate and transferred by rubbing the back of the paper, allowing imperfections and interruptions to emerge naturally in the image.

I printed the transferred drawings with acrylic paint, experimenting with a reddish palette outside my usual range. The color reinforces the jellyfish’s pulsing movement—contracting, releasing, and pushing softly through space. The layered reds build a sense of motion and restrained energy.
