The works on paper come out of a 2015 performance piece I created in which dancers interpreted the words associated with various tarot cards. These particular cards are “King of Swords”, “King of Staves” and Knight of Swords. The titles come from some of the words I read to the dancers as they imporovised movement. I later took the video of the performers and worked with the movements to create these compositions. I have been working with the raw material from that collaboration since we did the performances at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston and at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA.
The titles are listed here with the card names in parenthesis. Inside the frames on the back of the mats are the names of the cards for each piece. The paintings are signed on the back of the artwork.
