Born in Ticino, Switzerland, Lia spent much of her childhood in that wonderful environment painting.  She came to the UK to study fine art and graduated with a BA in Sculpture from Bath Spa University College.  As part of her practical she created an amazing array of flowing white feathers on wire counter-balances. Lia’s family are talented.  Her much loved Grandmother Betty Temple painted in Solva well into her 90s.  Her father Mario restores antique furniture and paintings.  Lia moved to Solva after her degree and has been based in Pembrokeshire since then.  She did a short stint in the Kalahari painting a life size Giraffe for the Mata Mata Information Centre; and she also designed an incredible Secretarybird costume to raise awareness for a campaign to stop the illegal hunting of birds of prey in Malta. Lia has devoted much of her adult life to her three children but has now picked up her brushes again we are happy to announce.  Her paintings provide beautifully observed scenes of the Pembrokeshire coast among many other subjects, capturing the light and movement expertly.  She prefers to work in oils and occasionally water-colour and gouache.
