Exploring Neo-Abstract Expressionism
This dynamic work marks an investigation into Neo-Abstract Expressionism, where gestural energy meets structured chaos. Titled Long Exposure, the painting evokes the photographic technique of capturing movement over time—here translated into paint through bold strokes of cobalt blue that frame an explosive core of tangled yellows and reds. Radiating black lines create a sense of centrifugal force, as if the viewer is witnessing multiple moments collapsed into a single frame. The composition balances spontaneous mark-making with deliberate color choices, creating tension between control and release. The artist draws on the legacy of mid-century abstraction while infusing it with contemporary urgency—the drips, splatters, and layered gestures speak to a practice rooted in physical immediacy and emotional intensity. Like its photographic counterpart, this piece captures accumulated energy and motion, inviting viewers to experience the visual residue of time passing through color and form.
