Lovers is one of Robin Antar's earliest sculptures, and the story behind it is as personal as the piece itself. It was Halloween night, and Robin, unable to go out, turned instead to a block of stone. What emerged were two abstract figures holding something up together between them, a quiet act of shared strength. She called it Lovers. Years later, that same image became the model for her monumental Lovers sculpture, created in memory of her parents, which now resides permanently at the Deal Sephardic Network in Deal, New Jersey. This small, intimate work is where it all began.
