Frog Star IV is a small print which was made especially for the limited edition series of Strange Creatures Complex Tessellations. It is included in the Series II edition of the book, and is hand signed and numbered, to match the book numbering. There are 88 pieces.

Like the large print Frog Star II, this print is based on Sir Roger Penrose's famous Penrose Tiling, the "Kite and Dart" version. This tiling is aperiodic. It is based on 5-fold geometry, hence the 5 pointed star shape of the design. The dimensions of the design are all related by the Golden Ratio, a ratio that is present in many aspects of nature.
