Maternity 2 (2001) is an evocative oil painting on canvas, measuring 30" x 40", that explores the profound themes of motherhood and creation. Inspired by the ancient art of the Tainos, the piece celebrates the nurturing power of maternity through symbolic forms and earthy colors. The use of fluid, organic lines reflects the connection between mother and child, while the bold textures and warm tones evoke a sense of life and growth. This work is a tribute to the timeless and universal experience of motherhood, reinterpreted through the lens of indigenous Caribbean artistic traditions, offering a unique fusion of culture, spirituality, and emotion.
