Mobius Strip is one of many hand-made and pulp painted pieces done at Pyramid Atlantic Center for Paper, Print and The Book when it was in Takoma Park MD. It is a collaboration with mast printer/master paper artist Helen Frederick. For about a year and a half I enjoyed an artist in residence at Pyramid.
I play with the concept of the Mobius Strip, fascinated by how visually compelling a thin paper strip with its ends joined can bend smoothly as a developable surface or be folded flat. Working with the fluid nature of pulp painting, I gave a mysterious shadow under the strip to develop its floatation in real time and space.
