I am composing this label somewhat ex post facto given the fact that I created this work at Reading Road Studio in 2023. As I was considering what to include, I was having a slice of pizza in Los Angeles with two former masterprinters from Crown Point Press. They were reflecting on the distinction between "handmade" and "homemade." It then occurred to me that Marked "On-Sale" revealed, rather than a difference, the intersection between these two terms.
The sheet was transformed by hand through the collaborative process of papermaking at the studio, yet it was finished only later, after I continued working on it at home. The framing, and the drawing on it, shaped the final act of editing. I think often about the process of "editing" in both writing and visual art.
