My work, always improvisatory. speaks truth to power. From diminutive to large scale, I combine and transform ordinary, mostly inexpensive materials - beads, thread, yarn ,and aper pulp into extraordinary objects and environments. I am devoted to figurative work as initiated in the mid-1970s with my thickly built-up hanging wall textiles, performance clothing and costuming made for myself and others, and layered beadwork necklaces. Working in hand papermaking allowed me to blend colors with a painterly approach, and play with line at the same time.
