About the artist

Dar Vandevoort

The objective of my work is to make the viewer happy, with a sense of freedom, curiosity, and wonderment. I enjoy painting what I know, kids, animals, nature ,colors, and experiences. My work is intimate because of that knowledge. The strong colors, textures, and subject matter, give a sense of atmosphere and fun. I work mainly with acrylic paints, but also enjoy oils, pastels, mixed media, and collage. Another goal in my work, is to, "tickle the eye," by periodically incorporating actual puzzle pieces into selected paintings. I always say, "if you're not having fun, you'd better get a different brush!"
