With tall ears raised and eyes wide, this hare stands completely still — tuned in to the subtle sounds and shifting winds of its meadow home. On Alert captures that fleeting moment of wild instinct, where motion pauses and awareness sharpens.

Rendered in soft pastel with careful attention to texture and light, the piece reflects both the softness of nature and its raw attentiveness. The background hums with muted greens and purples, suggesting a calm spring day — but the hare’s posture reminds us that the wild is never truly at rest. Every rustle matters.

This painting invites the viewer into that stillness — not as an outsider, but as part of the scene. A moment shared. A breath held. A quiet connection to the hidden lives just beyond the trail.
