Up-Rooted is a watercolor painting on paper located at Chadron State College in the Nelson Physical Activity Center second floor. This watercolor painting depicts a dead fallen tree on top of large round rocks and life growing all around it.

Dernovich grew up in Wyoming where his father taught respect the land. Today he lives in Nebraska. “If my work says something about the beauty we have on this earth or the people who inhabit it, then I feel it is successful,” Dernovich says. Dernovich earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Fine Arts from Fort Hays State University in Kansas.
