September 2026: Constructed Grace

Constructed Grace brings together Faith Scott Jessup, Zue Stevenson, Sandi Bransford, and Jite Agbro, four artists whose work centers on the human figure. Working in painting and sculpture, each brings a distinct perspective—from quiet observation to expressive interpretation—revealing the many ways the figure can tell stories of strength, vulnerability, beauty, and everyday experience.

Also in September, we are honored to be showing work by esteemed Whidbey Island artist Maxine Martell and new to the gallery artist Ilse Coffman.
 
You’re invited to join us during Langley's Art Walk for the opening reception on Saturday, September 5. The show is on view through Sunday, September 27.

About the artist

Sandi Bransford

Artist Statement

These figures are all me on some level. In some way, shape, or form they are speaking in my voice. I work intuitively without sketches or pre-conceived ideas. The story evolves as I work. Life experiences, observations of people/nature, unresolved conflicts, fears, dreams, and disappointments all inform my work. Symbols appear, shapes, forms, faces, undefined creatures of deer/coyote, nature, and birds bring the story to life.

As a female, person of color, mother, wife, and artist - my journey is specific and unique to me. But often, there is a crossing of paths, or meeting place where the art speaks to or moves the viewer. It is on a deeply spiritual or emotional level, steeped in remembrance, sympathy, empathy, joy, humor, ---all human-to-human connections. It is where my story walks with your story.

Bio

Sandi's art communicates emotion and seeks to evoke a time and space that is both ancient and contemporary. After utilizing text, drawing, and collage in her work, she finishes with oils, acrylics, wax, graphite, and textural glazes.
