We have appreciated Melvin Sandoval’s work for over 35 years and have enjoyed experiencing his path carving in a “minimalistic style”. Back then, Melvin’s fetishes were unusual, as many highly detailed carvings were being produced at that time. We encouraged him. His fetishes suggested an earlier carving style, though his animals’ fluidity felt modern.
