This painting began its life a few years ago and recently returned to me, asking for another conversation. As my practice evolves, so does my relationship to earlier work — what once felt resolved can reveal new possibilities. In reworking this piece, I was drawn toward cleaner, more energetic floral forms where the story lives entirely in the mark-making. Each gesture is intentional, pared back, and allowed to stand on its own. The simplicity is deliberate, creating space for presence rather than excess. This work is about clarity, ownership, and the quiet confidence of taking up space. It now feels settled — a painting that belongs fully to me. It makes me smile and that is the litmus test.
