These paintings, drawings, and sketches of places in and around Tuscaloosa, AL were done while Miriam was an undergraduate art student at the University of Alabama from 1953-1957.

These works were done while Miriam's husband, an Air Force Veteran, was recovering at the VA (Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, AL) in the late 1960's from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The men in these works are unknown, but likely served in WWII, Korea or Vietnam (which was ongoing at the time of these works).

Influenced by Rothko, Picasso and many other artists of the Modern era up until the 1970's.
