Bring Me Wine is built through accumulation. Layers are added, scraped back, glazed over and allowed to leave their history behind.

Studio residue is embedded into the surface, incorporating the physical remnants of making rather than discarding them. Scratches, drips, old marks and new interventions sit together, with evidence of the process deliberately left visible.

There’s something I like about keeping the debris of painting in the painting. The scraps, dust and residue that would ordinarily be cleaned up become another material to work with. Dehydrated tea bags and tea leaves incorporated into the architecture of the painting. But still - bring me some wine.

And sometimes a painting title doesn’t need to be any more complicated than Bring Me Wine.
