Light Activation - 24 x 12 x 0.75 inches - Mixed Media on Canvas
VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL ABSTRACT PAINTING
This striking mixed media composition commands attention through bold contrasts and layered complexity. Mary Rush builds visual drama by using various tools and layering paint, acrylic medium, colored pencil, and soft pastel—then strategically removing elements with rags and sanding blocks to reveal hidden depths beneath. The result is a dynamic interplay of texture and dimension that draws the eye across the canvas. There's an undeniable luminosity at work here, a sense of light breaking through the darker passages, creating an almost electric activation of the composition. The high contrast amplifies this effect, making certain areas pulse with energy while others recede into shadow. At 24 x 12 inches, this piece demands wall space worthy of its intensity—a conversation starter for collectors who appreciate art that challenges and captivates.
Feel free to hang this painting in the most pleasing orientation to you. I signed it for a vertical format. But, I created it and love the horizontal variation too.
