The creation of this vessel required two separate processes. first sheets of colored glass were cut and fused together in a kiln to create the pattern.
The copper that created the turquoise color reacts with the sulphur in the vanilla color when the glass is heated and fused together. This reaction creates subtle shadow outlines where the colors meet
The vanilla strips have been used around the bottom because they also create distinct lines due to the chemical properties of the glass.
The patterned glass was brought to a glass blowing studio where it was rolled up into a cylinder and closed so that it might be blown out to create the distinctive shape.
