Helena Garza (b. 1990, Tlaxcala, Mexico) is a Mexican visual artist based in Mexico City. Rooted in painting, her multidisciplinary practice expands into live coding, virtual reality, biotechnology, performance, and digital media, exploring the intersections between technology, perception, memory, and contemporary forms of image-making. Drawing from both classical music training and visual arts, Garza constructs immersive environments that blur the boundaries between the physical and the virtual.
Her work is informed by aesthetic movements such as vaporwave and cyberpunk, as well as philosophical and scientific inquiries into posthumanism and the nature of perception. Through what she describes as a metafigurative approach, Garza occupies the threshold between abstraction and figuration, creating compositions in which natural forms, objects, and memories are transformed into speculative visual landscapes.
Garza has been selected for major national and international exhibitions and awards, including the XIX Bienal Tamayo, the Encuentro Nacional de Arte Joven, the Premio de Artes Visuales de Tlaxcala, and the Bienal de Yucatán. Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, France, the United States, and Hong Kong, and she has completed large-scale mural commissions for Hotel El Ganzo in Los Cabos and Hotel ME Cabo.
