Sebastián Beltrán (b. 1972, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico) is a visual artist and designer who lives and works in León, Guanajuato. His interdisciplinary practice brings together sculpture, design, and drawing to investigate the relationship between material, form, and function. Through a process that balances conceptual rigor with technical experimentation, Beltrán develops works that challenge conventional distinctions between art, design, and everyday objects.
Beltrán studied sculpture and painting in Aguascalientes before continuing his education in Fine Arts in Guanajuato. He later specialized in sculpture at the Laboratorio Nicoli in Carrara, Italy, and furthered his training in the workshops led by Álvaro Blancarte at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.
His creative process begins with intuitive notes, sketches, and written reflections that gradually evolve into three-dimensional studies, material explorations, and technical prototypes. Since 2006, Beltrán has focused on integrating industrial design and sculpture, developing a distinctive visual language in which craftsmanship, spatial awareness, and conceptual inquiry coexist. His works examine the expressive potential of materials while encouraging new ways of perceiving the objects and structures that shape everyday experience.
