Piercing the Karman Line

23K genuine Gold Leaf and acrylic on natural lightning whelk seashell, box

10.5 x 7 x 4.5 in

$1,700

The Karman Line is the name used to delineate the place above earth where earth's atmosphere meets outer space. Although not a specific point it is estimated to be an altitude of roughly 50-62 miles above sea level and was once thought impossible to cross. "Piercing the Karman Line 'Is also a term used to express achieving a great accomplishment or overcoming a tremendous barrier. This lightning whelk celebrates just that- achieving what seems impossible.
Weighing almost three pounds, the genuine gold leaf seems to shine even more brightly against the light absorbing Musou Black and fluorescent colors. This striking, one-or-a-kind art piece celebrates and those who aim for the highest goals and work to achieve them.
