"Capriccio" represents an extensive series of Achepohl's Mediterranean-themed artwork, beginning with "Egypt: Day & Night", and including "Garden of Stone and Light", "Venezia", and "Mozaik". His overall richness of form, of texture, the incessant movement among shapes and media could suggest that action alone is expressing itself, one visceral impulse following another in mindful technique. In these "suites" of paintings. Achepohl transformed his art as watercolors became intaglios became woodcuts became oils; as engravings became mezzotints became watercolor with color pencil. Each piece becomes movement unto its own.
