Redwood forest nymph losing hope

photograph, mixed media, graphite, acrylic paint

20 x 30 x 0.25 in

This nymph is a strong guardian of a complex forest environment she fills with energy and power. This redwood tree nymph is losing hope in the face of threats to her tree and forest, sensing similarities across the world, as degradation reduces the ability of trees to shelter valuable ecosystems and mitigate warming.
The nymph is drawn, with her environment based on my own painted photographs. The shiny trash of candy wrappers are layered under the photograph on tissue. The image is tiled from original and modified images, creating a border effect as she hovers in the remnants of a vast, ancient forest.
