The 'Sage' -(adj.) Having or showing deep understanding of intelligence or application of knowledge. In this painting, the wolf looks back with wisdom of leadership and survival to followers of her pack. In the creation of 'The Sage' -Wolf, I carefully washed color around the shape of the wolf, leaving areas of her white coat untouched. I thought of the life of the wolf and its history of persecution and how the wolf must be both seen and unseen.
