This piece is dedicated to those who have overcome substance abuse, the sea of voices and faces that tormented them, the guilt and shame that accompanied substance abuse, who have come out of the turmoil in darkness, the loneliness, the life of lies and deceit.
They who have overcome should be victorious and conquerors like lions, taking authority over their lives. Standing firm and steadfast on a rock, no longer tossed around in the sea of turmoil. Leaving the past behind and boldly looking ahead, re-engineering a new life with boldness and an attitude of confidence.

As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.
