Four is the name of one of our cats, and he has a very specific favorite place to hang out: the bathroom counter, where he patiently waits for someone to turn on the faucet so he can have a drink. Of course, I had to take a picture. For this piece, I reimagined Four sitting on the counter of an old apothecary, patiently watching as people browse the mysterious wares. His calm, curious expression makes him seem perfectly at home among the bottles, jars, and other oddities—as if he has always been the shop’s resident feline proprietor. Sometimes inspiration comes from the most ordinary moments. In Four’s case, it started with a cat waiting for someone to turn on the water.
