I came across an abandoned derelict boat I found full of character, fuelling my creativity. Colours of the rusting patina, cracked paint & textures of the decay was beautiful, compelling me to recreate them in an abstracted painting. Working intuitively using collage, texture mediums and acrylic paint, the top two thirds of the painting represent my interpretation of the boats hull, with the lower half an imagined archipelago of inlets and sea passages the old boat may have journeyed. However, I leave the interpretation totally up to the viewer.
