The background of this stark color contrasted painting has a cross on the left and an Islamic flag symbol on the right. A faceless figure sits in the middle with a skeleton of a child on their lap. One can only image the conflict between these two opposing religions has ended in death and destruction to the innocents. A powerful statement from the artist on the unending effects of religious conflict that has ended in hundreds of years of unresolved wars. A sober statement made by many artists before and contemporary with him, as Picasso in Guernica and others.
