Trees Remember: Philadelphia 2023 Temperature Quilt in Art on the Trails at Beals Preserve, an annual outdoor juried art exhibition and poetry program in Southborough, Massachusetts. My artwork Philadelphia 2023 Temperature Quilt is a data visualization that utilizes a grid structure to reference a calendar year. Precise half-inch squares (and periodic triangles) cut from botanical material provide data while also creating a dynamic composition of color, texture and movement. The textile quilt is two-sided, with the visual/graphic theme on one side and information about the botanicals used, the origin of the pattern/design, and other information on the other.
