Ancient Rings 100 explores structure, light, and color through thousands of individually placed glass elements. Transparent Sapphire Blue and Red Amber elements follow an Archimedean spiral when viewed from above. From the vessel’s profile, that same spiral resolves visually into a linear progression, shifting the geometry as the point of view changes.
French Vanilla glass creates two distinct systems of order: one follows rings parallel to the lip, while the other tracks the spiral. Together they establish a layered rhythm that changes as the flat composition is transformed by heat and gravity into the vessel form.
The sapphire and amber elements move from cool to warm across the surface, while light passing through the transparent glass activates them as luminous windows of color. The matte French Vanilla surface softens reflection, allowing pattern, structure, and the changing relationship between spiral and line to remain clear.
