Sunset On The Saugus 18 x 24 pastel on 400 Grit UArt 8 Ply Board

Once home to one of the largest lobster fleets on the East Coast, what remains of this once thriving location are just a handful of working boats still seeking a life from the sea. The title of this piece is not just a rendition of the beautiful sunsets that can be found on Saugus River, but also a metaphor for what once was. Regulations and the challenges of owning and operating a commercial lobster boat are slowly setting the sun on this industry; all commercial fishing in New England and beyond.
