“Blue Dinghy Reflection” captures a quiet moment where the simplest elements—a small boat, a tether, still water, and a sheltering bank of green—hold a world of calm. I was drawn to the contrast between the cool, luminous blue of the dinghy and the lush, sun-warmed greens of the shoreline. That dialogue of color became the heartbeat of the painting.
Working from observation, I softened edges and layered transparent passages to let the scene breathe, allowing the reflection to carry as much presence as the boat itself. The light is gentle rather than dramatic; it’s the kind of light that invites you to pause, listen, and feel the air. The line tying the dinghy to shore became a quiet metaphor—anchorage amid openness, stillness held by a slender thread.
This piece is an ode to unhurried places and the restorative power of water. By keeping the composition spare and the brushwork loose, I wanted the viewer to sense the hush of the cove and the subtle movement of ripples, and to find in that blue-and-green harmony a moment of rest.
