A lawyer by profession who specialized in mental health law, Lou Kaplan studied art at the Corcoran School of Art and in Florence, Italy. Behind his abstract landscape lies a likely admiration of German Expressionism, such as landscapes by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Donated by the widow of the artist, Sally Kaplan.
