Gary Coulter was a sculptor whose style was usually described as abstract. However, he also painted, and the Hadley collection showcases some of his sculptures and paintings. Coulter earned his BA and MA from Fort Hays State University and his MFA from the University of Kansas. He served as a professor of art for Hastings College. He went on to become the president of the Sculpture Studio and Foundry, Inc. Coulter also served as chairman of Fort Hays State University's Art and Design program.
