Elmer Holzrichter was a Harvey County native and a Wichita State University graduate. Holzrichter first found his passion for art in elementary school, his art teacher inspiring him to pursue painting. After achieving his master's, Holzrichter went on to teach at Kearney State College. There, his craft grew, and he was known as a "thoughtful and inspirational teacher." Holzrichter was known as the "Thingmaker" and was known for his ability to "make the ordinary extraordinary." He has had work showcased in multiple galleries and has created over 100 paintings in his lifetime.
