About the artist

Berta Diller

Berta Diller was born in Wabishen, Ontario in 1903. A graduate of Columbia University, she lived in California for many years and was active in social work. She was a 12-year resident of Craftsbury, Vermont. Berta was an active participant at the GRACE workshop in the Greensboro Nursing Home. She said she had always wanted to paint but, “I didn’t think I was much good at–now, I let my subconscious be my guide.” Berta passed away in 1990 at the age of 87.
